We are pleased to announce that our feature-packed retro inspired, frantic space shooter – Super Mega Space Blaster Special – launches today (18th June 2019) on Steam for the ridiculously low price of $0.99 (£0.79, €0.89). In fact the price is even lower for the first week as the game has a week one 10% discount.
A Feature-Packed Retro Romp
Super Mega Space Blaster Special is loads of retro infused fun to play both alone and with a friend in local couch coop or competitive modes. With 10 ships to unlock each with unique stats there’s something for every play style. Complete challenges and destroy enemies to collect coins and unlock more ships. Use the array of power-ups and weapons at your disposal to take out baddies and avoid taking damage. Try to manage your ammo and fuel supply and destroy the Super Fantasy Zone inspired big-boss in ‘survival mode’. Push your piloting skills to the max to score combos and keep your mothership alive in ‘protect mother mode’. Compete against your friends in the frantic split-screen ‘to the death mode’. Enjoy endless fast-paced score chasing gameplay and use the ships you’ve unlocked to attempt Steam leaderboard domination.
A Bargain of a Blaster
The game has been designed from the ground up with controller support in mind. PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers all have in-game images to help you understand how to play. There are over 20 Steam achievements to unlock and over 20 in-game challenges to complete. The game supports cross platform Steam cloud save allowing you to keep your game save current across Windows, Linux, and MacOS. Trading cards are all designed, uploaded to Steam, and ready to role out as soon as the game sells enough (Steam explain more here). Play along to Super Mega Space Blaster Special’s 1980’s inspired synth-pop original soundtrack by Electric Fan Death which is included as free DLC. This game is a true bargain, all this retro fun for only $0.99 (£0.79, €0.89).
Super Mega Space Blaster Special is a fun pick up and play shmup available on Steam for less than a dollar that also runs on Linux. I’ve paid heaps more for games I’ve played less. A compulsive fun title.Gamer Geek News
Super Mega Upgrades
We are going to continue to support this game into the future so expect updates with improvements and to address any issues. If the game proves popular enough we plan to release free DLC with more features that didn’t quite make it into the final release. These features include ship upgrades to spend your coins on, a custom ship builder, more ships, more music, more weapons, new game modes, and more enemies and bosses.
